Vienna won an exciting 3x3 basketball final, defeating Amsterdam 22-20 in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Wuxi 2024 on Wednesday, 2 October. On the game's final play, Enis Murati scored a clean two points to complete the victory for Vienna, bringing his total to 12 points in the People's Republic of China.
The Austrian team fought bravely to the end in the Chinese city, thrillingly securing their second title of 2024. Due in large part to the quality of play available, Vienna and Amsterdam exchanged blows throughout the game, neither able to take the lead.
One of the best 3x3 basketball competitions in the world, it has drawn 14 of the best men's teams from around the globe, such as two-time World Tour winners Ub Huishan NE, Olympic gold medalists Amsterdam, and multiple Europe Cup 2024 winners Vienna. The Chinese squad Chongming will compete with the crowd's favourite Wuxi.
Best Players to Watch
- Strahinja Stojacic (Ub Huishan NE)
Be careful, as 'Doctor Strange' is eager to go after skipping the Shanghai stop. By the end of their Shanghai semi-final run, Ub Huishan NE SRB were the walking wounded; the Serb superstar will be needed to spark them.
After a difficult first half of 2024 in which he lost the top spot, Stojacic has returned to the top thanks to his burning hot play. He continued to win championships after helping Ub win a pro circuit crown in Podgorica just last week. He was named MVP in Debrecen.
- Quincy Diggs (Vienna)
Vienna was forced to play with three players in Shanghai after superstar Nico Kaltenbrunner sustained a knee injury that prevented him from playing. This was a big blow to the team. While Kaltenbrunner will not be playing in Wuxi, Vienna has the ideal substitute in Quincy Diggs, a renowned scorer. Having not played on the World Tour since Vienna's runner-up finish in Edmonton, this guy is fired up and ready to go.
- Stefan Milivojevic (Partizan Meta Force)
This 3x3 Gladiator, averaging 5.8 points per game on the World Tour this season and serving as an indicator for the threatening Partizan Meta Force SRB, was another talent absent from Shanghai. It's hardly surprising that Partizan finished in the semi-finals after this strong Serbian put on his best performance in Almaty, where he placed second in terms of player value and points.
- Dennis Donkor (Riffa)
Dennis Donkor was the only player to win the MVP award in Shanghai. He has given it his best throughout the year, especially during Riffa's BRN early-season downturn. Donkor has always been the team's heart and soul, and his loyalty has seen Riffa through many challenging moments. Their confidence gradually returned before everything came together during a stunning run in Shanghai, where Donkor was at the height of his superb two-way abilities.
- Stefan Kojic (Liman)
Legendary Liman SRB has had a difficult World Tour season; they consistently lose in the quarterfinals, just like they did in Shanghai. They have placed a lot of trust on sniper Stefan Kojic, who has proven to be able to carry the load with an incredible average of 7.3 points per game, which is the second most among players who have played more than ten games, only to superstar Worthy de Jong.
- Dulguun Enkhbat (Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy)
In Shanghai, Ulaanbaatar had a fantastic semi-final campaign; their two-way beast was a complete masterwork. Enkhbat, who finished second in Shanghai's scoring competition, proved once more that he can drop buckets with the best of them. It's unfair for opponents because he can do everything on the half-court with this nifty move.
Mongolian is a strong competitor known for his stunning appearance. Enkhbat is a 3x3 machine, so you know he can handle the load. Ulaanbaatar is starting a huge schedule, so you'll see many of these guys in the upcoming months.
