Giancarlo Stanton of the New York Yankees received a second round of platelet-rich plasma injections on Thursday to assist in speeding up the recovery process in his harmed elbows, according to general manager Brian Cashman.

Stanton, 35, has attempted to rejoin the Yankees in Tampa this weekend but will likely not take part in baseball activities. When asked why the tendinitis was not treated throughout the offseason, Cashman claimed that Stanton hadn't revealed he was having problems until just before reporting to spring training.

Cashman Talks about Stanton's Health

"The complaints were not filed until right before camp," Cashman said to MLB.com. "Ultimately, he was treated with it at the end of last year and clearly thought we were in a good place. I felt he thought we were in a good spot, but it increased its ugly head about three weeks before camp if I understand properly.

The 16-year veteran will set to begin the 2025 MLB season on the injured list, the Yankees claimed recently. Stanton has been unwilling to play in spring training due to tendonitis in both elbows, which has prevented him from swinging a bat for a month before. He has dealt with tendinitis since last season.

When asked why he did not get surgery throughout the winter before leaving Tampa, Stanton replied, "I don't know." He previously mentioned that he expects to experience elbow soreness over the season after corrective measures are done.

"A last resort," in accordance with Cashman, would be surgery to treat the issue rapidly, which would keep Stanton out of action for three months.

"I can't rule out surgery, but I know it's not suggested in the front end of this thing," Cashman said. "If you have a number of multiple failed attempts, then obviously you are beginning to look at different ways of intervention."

In 114 games over the prior season, Stanton hit with 233 with a.773 OPS, 27 home runs, 20 doubles, and 72 RBI. With 1.048 OPS and seven home runs, he was an inspiration in the postseason.

Yankees Face Brewers on Opening Day

Aaron Judge is most likely going to invest more time at DH while Stanton is out. With Trent Grisham in center field, Cody Bellinger in the right, and Jasson Domínguez in left, he got started there in Thursday's Grapefruit League game versus the Minnesota Twins.

Ben Rice, outfielder Everson Pereira, catcher/infielder J.C. Escarra, and seasoned first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith, who scored 22 doubles and six home runs with the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds prior season, are additional possibilities for the Yankees. On March 27, the Yankees host the Milwaukee Brewers to launch the 2025 Major League Baseball season.
