On Tuesday night, Luka Dončić's first game against his old team drew a huge audience of NBA fans. TNT said Wednesday afternoon that Dončić and the Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-99 on Tuesday, drawing in about 2.5 million viewers.

This season, aside from opening night, it was the most-watched regular-season game on the network. Additionally, it was the most-watched game that was broadcast on Max throughout the regular season. About 2.9 million people watched the game at its peak.

Luka Dončić's Performance in Game

On the other hand, 11.3 million people watched the NBA Finals on ABC on average last summer. This season, 5.25 million people watched each NBA game on Christmas Day schedule.

The fact that so many fans wanted to witness the game in Los Angeles on Tuesday night is not surprising, given the transaction that occurred only a few weeks earlier. When the Mavericks shocked the NBA community by getting Anthony Davis, Dončić was claimed to be angry.

After he made his lone 3-pointer on Tuesday, he looked down the Mavericks bench, and at one point, the crowd exploded in a loud shout of "Thank you, Nico!" directed at Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison. In the Lakers' third straight victory, Dončić ended with 19 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Dončić Statements and Schedule

Dončić said:

“I believe the closure will take some time. It's just not great, I don't know. As I mentioned, I'm relieved that this game has ended. A wide range of emotions were present. It will happen gradually. It gets better every day.”

Dončić is scheduled to return to Dallas for the first time on April 9. Whatever transpires in the league between now and then, Mavericks supporters have been furious with Harrison for even making the transaction in the first place. They will undoubtedly turn out. Based on the data from Tuesday, high ratings for that game are most likely to follow.

Luka Dončić has Found New Energy in LA

Nobody fully expected how Luka Dončić is illuminating the City of Angels. Doncic has surprised everyone by proving why he is one of the best players in the game ever since his surprise trade to the Lakers. On their podcast, "The Big Number," Dan Devine and Tom Haberstroh talked about this situation and made observations about how Luka's performance would affect the Lakers' future.

When Luka was transferred to Los Angeles, there was some doubt, particularly given his defensive problems. On the other hand, Dončić has recently been nothing short of innovative, restoring a legendary Lakers franchise. Haberstroh remarked, "It's been jaw-dropping".

Under the guidance of head coach JJ Redick, his arrival in Los Angeles has improved the Lakers' overall outlook. Luka's no-look pass to Austin Reaves in Tuesday's victory over the Mavericks is a prime example of his natural skill at keeping opponents guessing.
