Paris will host the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2024, one hundred years after it last hosted the Games. Athletes competing for gold and a spot in Olympic history will take place in the French capital for over a month, drawing delegates, politicians, and fans.
Athlete memoirs, the daily schedule, the complete Olympic calendar, travel guidance, the medal table, competition results, and the final Olympic guide are all available.
Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won the competition to win gold, his first Olympic medal, in the men's javelin throw final at the Olympic Games Paris 2024. He had a new record throw of 92.97 meters at the State de France. Pakistan's first-ever Olympic gold medal in athletics is this victory.
Paris Olympic 2024
Neeraj Chopra had to settle for a silver medal in the men's javelin throw final of the Paris Olympics on Thursday night after his dreams of adding a second gold medal to his first from Tokyo were destroyed. With a stunning throw of 89.34 meters in the qualification, Chopra entered the final as the favourite.
He delivered the javelin to 89.45, his second-best-ever effort and an impressive increase over the 87.58 that won him the gold in Tokyo. However, Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, who happens to be the champion of the Diamond League, upset him by breaking the Olympic Record to win the gold medal, but that was enough for the reigning World Champion and Diamond League finalist.
Olympic Records Broken
Team USA won a fifth straight gold medal in the Olympic basketball competition on August 10, NBA player Kevin Durant could become the first male athlete to win four gold medals in any team sport. However, if France wins the men's handball competition the next day, his record could be reached in just 24 hours.
Having competed in the last five Olympic Games, France's three-time IHF World Player of the Year Nikola Karabatic has helped his country win gold in Beijing in 2008, London in 2012, and Tokyo in 2020. The 40-year-old, one of the greatest players in sports history, is scheduled to retire after Paris 2024, so the final day of competition at Pierre Mauroy Stadium might be an emotional farewell in front of home fans.
Men’s 400-meter
- In a thrilling finale in Paris 2024, Matthew Hudson-Smith of Great Britain lost out on the Olympic 400-meter gold by four-hundredths of a second.
- The 29-year-old set a new European record of 43.44 seconds, but in an exciting finish, American Quincy Hall won in a personal best of 43.40 seconds.
- After missing the world title by just 0.09 seconds a year ago, Hudson-Smith faced yet another heartbreaking near-miss on a global platform.
- Hudson-Smith, the world's fastest man in 2024 and the clear favorite for gold makes history by becoming the first British athlete to place on the men's 400-meter podium at a Games in 28 years.
