The Pittsburgh Steelers have ended the season with 4 back-to-back losses but have qualified for the playoffs after Saturday's 19–17 defeat to the Cincinnati Bengals. Only three other teams, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, have managed to enter the playoffs with a four or more game losing streak.

According to ESPN’s Brooke Pryor on the notion of three teams entering into playoffs, the Detroit Lions are on the same path. The Lions lost five straight games and were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs when they lost in the wild-card round to Washington.

Russell Wilson Avoids Discussing Steelers' Loss, Focuses on Playoffs

Russell Wilson, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, has recently been in a conference postgame with ESPN. In the press conference, Russell was attacked by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt's scrutiny. "We're talking about the game you guys just lost; that's the fourth in a row."

Russell Wilson avoided the discussion on the Steelers’ recent losses. He said, "I don't really wanna talk about the past just because I think we've been in that for a little bit here. I think the best thing we can do is get ready for the playoffs."

Russell doesn’t want to dwell on the past but desires to be hopeful for the playoffs. Russell's statement about dismissing Steeler’s losses but focusing on the future reflects his approach to learning from the mistakes and performing better in the upcoming games to compensate for losses. 

Doubts about Steelers' Playoff Performance

The Steelers are playing in the playoffs, even after facing 4 consecutive losses. Their future performance in the first round of playoffs is clouded by doubts owing to recent losses. In addition, the question about who will be their opponent is still there. 

Their opponent will depend on the Los Angeles Chargers' Week 18-game winning or losing outcome. Pittsburgh could finish as the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the AFC playoffs, which will determine whether they play against Baltimore or Houston.

Steelers' Tough Times During the Losing Streak

The Steelers’ four-game losing streak has its challenges, especially since they encountered three of the best teams in the NFL—the Philadelphia Eagles, Baltimore Ravens, and Kansas City Chiefs. The Steelers' offense struggled but failed to score more than 17 points in each of their losses. 

Russell Wilson, the Steelers' veteran quarterback, was also bombarded with criticism as he made a crucial mistake. His mistake of choosing to make his way quickly to earn three yards instead of throwing the ball away or running out of bounds came during the Steelers’ final move against the Bengals. 

The game was only left with 46 seconds and one timeout, and Russell’s fault wasted 22 valuable seconds for the Steelers’.
