Scottie Scheffler’s historic season 2024 ended on a good note when he lifted the PGA TOUR Player of the Year Trophy this Tuesday, December 10. 91% of PGA TOUR members cast their votes in favour of Scottie Scheffler despite the marvellous seasons played by Xander Schauffele and Rory McIlroy.

Scottie Scheffler's has Added a Historic Achievement to His Golfing Career

Scottie Scheffler has named the Jack Nicklaus Award as the PGA Tour Player of the Year for the 2024 season. He has been lifting this third trophy for three consecutive years and is the only golfer except Tiger Woods to win the award in three successive years.

His historic achievement has made him the only golfer to win the award at least three times in his career, joining Tiger Woods and Mcllroy. Mcllroy has won it three times, and Woods has bagged it 11 times.

Scottie Scheffler Played A Record-Breaking Golfing Season

The 2024 has been a record-breaking season for golfer Scottie Scheffler. His seven PGA wins, embellished with nine wins worldwide, have made him one of the most successful golfers since Tiger Woods in 2007.

It is worth noting that Scheffler is one of the only three golfers among Woods and Vijay Singh to win seven or more times in a season in todays’ age. Winning gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics and the season-long FedEx Cup title is an account of a huge win on Scheffler’s part.

Scheffler has made some dominant performances and stats in key events throughout the 2024 season. He became the first golfer to appear victorious in THE PLAYERS Championship, Masters, and TOUR Championship in the same season.

Arnold Palmer Invitational, RBC Heritage, Memorial Tournament, and Travelers Championship are the other top tournaments that add significant wins to Scheffler’s name.

Comparison to Tiger Woods

Scheffler's continued record-breaking performances and stats on the field made many compare him to Tiger Woods, the 82-time TOUR winner, who has prevailed in the game for many years. He shunned all comparisons and emphasized Tiger's extraordinary position on the field, saying, “There’s really only one Tiger; that’s just kind of it.”

Scottie Scheffler's Humble Thoughts on His Successive Wins

Scheffler has shown humility in his great victories. He believes that he is not the one who runs after the stats and records.

He has conveyed his humble gratitude for his fellow golfers' support. He put forward his statement referring to the vote from his fellow golfers when he received the award at a charity event in Plano, Texas.

Scheffler wants to keep improving his game. He said, “He is more than happy by just being the best version of myself.”
